Audio spikes on first volume level

When using an external display, when I turn the volume up from 0% to the first level square thingy, the volume actually jumps very high for about 100ms? and then quickly comes back down to the intended level. Truly jumpscare material

This might be a display specific issue I am afraid. Did you try with other DDC apps (like m1ddc)? If the problem is caused by unmute, you can change how mute-unmute works:
