Possible to edit in diff panels

Migrating from an old CVS repository (with lots of branches) to Git. Doing merges in CVS isn't that difficult. Most of the time this is just a few files and not a big deal. Until the same change needs to happen in Git. Then changes are noticed in 1000's of files. Opening for each change a separate instance of a merge/edit tool (to do very minor edits), that gets old pretty quick, I can tell you.

So my request would be to turn the diff viewer into a diff editor (at least one of the panels) for simple edits. That would be a great addition to your otherwise very capable tool.
