Windows 10, version 1909

Initially, I tested the diary on my PC installed locally on the hard drive and then again as a portable on a USB. It worked just as it should.

Then I plugged the USB (containing the entire program) to load on a friend's PC. In yesterday's test, it worked. Today, not so much.

The friend opens the app on the USB. It prompts him to set a password (although he set one yesterday). He sets a password and…nothing happens. It's a dead link.

He installed the app locally on his PC hard drive and the same thing happened. No way to set a password, no way to use the app.

I understand this is a middleman situation but the friend has a vague knowledge of PCs (or tech in general). Help is greatly appreciated as I really don't want to end up going around in circles with this.

Thank you.

By default if you don't move the diary to some directory, application takes a directory for electron provides for storing application config files. I think in windows it's appData directory appended with application name, but I'm not sure. If there's a previously made corrupted diary file in that directory, mini diary will use that as the diary, otherwise it'll prompt for a new password to create a new diary.

Just check whether the path of diary file change every time you open the app. You can see the path of the diary in preferences.
