MacOS has some different configuration files for environment variables. The script be able to determine the OS and act accordingly.
The details about the files are available here.

Hi, I would like to implement the macOS functionality.
Quick question though: When you say "The script be able to determine the OS and act accordingly.", do you mean that the script should have this functionality?

Because I couldn't find that functionality in the current code...

Okay, nevermind, I implemented this in my fork. I'm almost done with the macOS support.
I'm going to send a PR soon, so we can discuss the implementation of this feature.
