TextEntry::markdown() "max-width" and "overflow"

Is there a way to limit max-width and set overflow: scroll of <pre> tags in the html generated by TextEntry::markdown().
I have some very long strings in these blocks and while Infolist modal is open they break the layout — the content of modal extends above the modal and the whole page gets very long horizontal scrolling.
