For correct MIDI timing with USB interface and USB audio, just create a simple MIDI track in your DAW to control the notes. Works fine without additional MIDI cable. |

THANK YOU for doing this! I'm finally ready to re-integrate my TI2 back into PT & Ableton! |

Here is an example how to route your Access Virus TI with Mac using direct USB connection and without USB connection.
macOS users
Note 1: Configuring the Editor, DAW, Aggregate devices and MIDI ports gets more complicated when direct USB is used.
Note 2: MIDI timing is not going to keep up when direct USB connection is used. This is because our Editor does not have Audio Processing in it = no latency settings available.
So the best bet is to use MIDI interface and / or Audio Interface with MIDI input and output ports.
( Reminder, MIDI note data is going to drift when note data is routed to hardware via the Editor track! ).
Example 1 WITH Direct USB Connection [Complex to setup]
It this setup we have MacBook Pro 16" M1 Max with TP-Link 7-port USB 3.0 HUB. Virus TI is connected to the HUB and that is it.
Note that when Virus TI has USB cable plugged in, MIDI input and MIDI output ports work as external MIDI ports for external equipment such as master keyboard of some kind. Therefore, MIDI data is bypassed from Virus TI engine completely.
You can find the complete guide to setting up Audio devices, midi ports and such from our documentation pages if you are interested in this simple setup.
Example 2 WITHOUT USB Connection [Simple to setup]
In this setup we have the same MacBook Pro 16" M1 Max with TP-Link 7-port USB 3.0 HUB but the main difference is that Virus TI is now connected to MOTU microlite MIDI interface with 5-pin DIN cables (MIDI input and MIDI output) AND audio from Virus TI is connected from Main out 1-2 and 3-4 to Behringer U-Phoria UMC1820 USB sound card inputs.
Now that USB is no longer connected in Virus TI, MIDI input and MIDI output messages work as expected. Also, this is more typical way of setting equipment in studio than fiddling with the USB connection. In general it makes more sense to have few devices (MIDI and Audio interfaces) that are connected to computer than having Audio interface and multiple synths connected via USB.
Since we have nothing to do with the Kemper GmbH / Access Music, we can not recommend the USB method.
